Gilt
Kitchener, Ontario
As a second foray into the restaurant business, the Gilt girls believed in the value of design thinking. On a tight budget the restaurant interior reflects the brand - conducive to the still developing downtown scene. Space planned with a cocktail bar in the front and dining room in back - the idea was to transition into a night spot and take advantage of the 20’ front windows and exposure to the main street and buildings platform Soft lighting and highback upholstered chairs create acoustic privacy and slow down the energy from the street outside
A collection of sleek and textured materials were combined to convey elegance without losing sight of location – a downtown in flux. A full commercial kitchen was space planned and partially exposed to the dining room – with low lighting and neutral palette.
